Vienna is one of the oldest jewels of Europe, offering a variety of things to do and places to see. Once landed, you can travel from Vienna airport to the city by a taxi and minibus transfer service, or by the airport bus or train connection. When you complete your portion of adventures and urban exploring during the day, heading off to some of the best nightlife hot spots may just be the perfect way to end the experience. Literally everyone can find nocturnal fun in Vienna, from posh bars, to electro clubs, live music venues and Irish pubs – all placed in many unusual locations. Since the nightlife is an important part of the Vienna experience, we propose a variety of hotels to stay at, all close to some of the top nightlife locations.
The Bermuda Triangle (or the Bermudadreieck) is located in the very center of the city, populated with countless pubs and the best student bars in Vienna, making it easy for anyone to get lost in the bar-hopping experience. Hence, the name! The Bermudadreieck is located between Rabensteig, Seitenstettengasse and Ruprechtsplatz, literally shaping a triangle. Some of the best hotels in this area include the Mercure Wien Zentrum, which is located in the very heart of the Bermuda Triangle and coming with a great pack of reviews. Fairly near, you can stay at the Vienna Marriot Hotel and the Hilton Vienna at a fair walking distance. However, if you are open to experience the Vienna public transportation night lines, you may consider staying at the Le Méridien Wien Hotel, the NH Wien Belvedere Hotel or the Intercontinental Wien Hotel for a very pleasant stay. You can use a recommended airport taxi service, minivan service (if you’re traveling as a group) or even a limousine rental if you wish to treat yourself.
One of the most recommended spots, by day and by night, is the Naschmarkt where you can open your senses and give in to the luxurious foods, fruits and spices. This is probably the only spot in Vienna, and perhaps even in Austria, where you can indulge in an unforgettable food and wine experience after nightfall, feeling that you’re completely out of the city. The food here is always fresh, the spices are tempting and you can choose from a variety of menus – ready meals to go, or steaks and pork-chops, fish, sea-food or tapas dishes to taste and enjoy, washing them down with a variety of quality wines. The atmosphere by night at the Naschtmarkt is cozy, enriched with the murmur and laughter of the hundreds visitors placed at rows and rows of tables. It’s colorful, exotic and simply unforgettable.
This spot is actually surrounded by many places to stay. At this occasion, we’d like to mention some of the top hotels to stay near the Naschtmarkt, offering the best convenience. The Drei Kronen Hotel City is the one closest to the market and is actually a renovated art nouveau historic building. And if you prefer a simpler hotel, the Carlton Opera Hotel may be your pick. It’s located very close to the Opera House, placed at a very convenient walking distance. And if you are still not done with all of the Vienna’s artistic refinement, we recommend the Hotel Beethoven Wien, a Neo-renaissance style building dedicated to the great composer Beethoven himself! All of these hotels are located on a walking distance from the Nachtmarkt, so even if you end up in a better mood than you’ve planned, you’ll know that your bed is just a stroll away.
The Danube Channel (or the Donaukanal) is literally an urban oasis and a getaway spot from the elegant baroque spirit of Vienna. It is actually a side arm of Danube which conveniently flows right through the center of the city. Populated with a plethora of beach bars and comfortable beach beds and chairs, you can sip from cold drinks and party day and night. Preferably, if you’re visiting during the summer, you can engage in this experience while barefoot with the sand tickling your toes. Many of the bars resting on the Danube’s banks are actually boats or assume an unusual form of underground arches. The long walls separating this oasis from the rest of the city are decorated with all kinds of graffiti, painted by local and foreign artists. At night, the Danube Channel transforms itself into a real clubbing hot spot, so the many visitors can go dancing, catch a gig or enjoy a beer on the river’s bank or in one of the many bars. This particular spot offers a variety of music genres and is a true magnet for a young crowd.
Naturally, after a long night of clubbing, meeting new people and chatting away, you’d like your room to be as close as possible. Just around the corner, you can stay at the Meninger Hotel Wien Downtown Franz, a modern and fully functional hotel, offering different types of rooms. However, if you have a more refined taste and you don’t mind a short bus ride, you may opt for the Hilton Vienna Danube Waterfront, the Courtyard Vienna Prater/Messe or the Austria Trend Hotel Messe Wien. Upon your arrival at Vienna, these hotels are all accessible via the airport bus, train or with our taxi and minibus transfer service to the doorstep of your accomodation.
There’s a variety of downtown hotels to stay while exploring this magical city and an even better way to find your mean of transportation to them. Make sure to choose your accommodation wisely and triple the fun!
